AMA – A Moment Frozen in Time

Ama is an exploration of motherhood, femininity and cultural identity, and looks at one woman’s evolution of displacement and alienation through her own intimate reflections on her life. Ama is a close study of the hidden links between one individual and the wider social history, exploring issues of migration, gender and memory.

Ama is an unfolding narrative which brings a unique and personal perspective drawn from lived experience, interweaving statements, prayers and chants expressing the eternal search for solace and a place of belonging – a place with a sense of home, the inner sanctuary. Ama looks at the relationship of hands through time between the past and present, for beneath each image lies a private eye with layers of history – duration and light within a single moment.
